Humble Beginnings

Updatable began as a simple design shop in 2006 named BlueBird Design. We created brochures, business cards, postcards, posters, bulletins, newsletters, billboard ads, online banner ads, and simple image-based websites. Over the course of about six months, we realized that most of our clients that needed graphic design help did not have a website to take potential clients to after hooking them with the ad offer. We began offering website design as an inclusive package to help these businesses get the most bang for their design buck.

Finding Focus

In making the shift from a general graphic design shop to a web design shop, we spent months in researching what other web design companies offered, what most small businesses actually needed, and what holes we might be able to fill in the local web design industry. We emerged from that R&D period with a clear sense of purpose and identity. It was then that we became Updatble, with a focus on building websites that our clients could manage themselves without any technical knowledge.

In discovering this new direction, we realized that most small businesses needed a few simple things that we could provide with reliability, affordability, and speed; namely, quality design, stable hosting, and helpful customer support. And it’s those three things that we focus on to this day.

Today

Most of our local clientele are small businesses that exist within a tight business network. Referrals keep us in the local business market. Nationally, we’ve been focusing on building websites (and consulting) for churches and other Christian non-profits.
